In the 1960s Longines developed a timepiece that was worn by railwaymen and fulfilled specific requirements in terms of aesthetics, quality and precision.
Taking inspiration from the original model, Longines is now presenting the Longines RailRoad series replica watches, a sober three-hand watch powered by the self-winding L888.2 calibre, produced by ETA exclusively for Longines and beating at 25,200 vibrations per hour with 64-hour power reserve.
The stainless steel 40 mm diameter case Longines fake watches frames an off-white polished dome dial displaying an hour circle composed of large black Arabic numerals – with a 0 instead of a 12 – and a 24-hour scale. A minute ring enhances the reading of the time indicated by the shiny lacquer black hands. The sapphire crystal has a multi layered anti-reflective coating for optimal legibility.
The letters “RR” (for Rail Road) that were seen on the original dial can also be seen on the current dial. The indication “280” that was seen on the original dial Longines cheap fake watches and referred to the timepiece’s calibre of movement, has been replaced by the inscription “888” on the reissued model to reflect the movement that drives the new Longines Railroad.
The screwed caseback of this model shows a finely worked engraving inspired from the original decorations that adorned the pocket watches designed for railway companies in the 1920s. The watch is water resistant to 30 metres.
